Waterbirds: Walkers

Black-necked Stilt, Yellowlegs

These are active, long-legged species that are able to forage in deeper water than most sandpipers. Black-necked Stilt picks insects from the water’s surface.

Greater Yellowlegs can be distinguished from the smaller Lesser Yellowlegs by the bill shape and flight call. They may forage together in the winter.
