Land Birds: Songbirds
Flycatchers, Kingbirds, Pewees, Phoebes, Wood-Pewees
This group of birds (37 species) are called Tyrant Flycatchers. All feed on insects, mainly caught in flight. Not unexpectedly, tyrant flycatchers have strong, buoyant, agile flight, with quick turns and abrupt movements as the birds pursue their prey. Flycatcher identification can be vexing, even for expert birders. Voice is sometimes the best identifying feature in the field.
